We turn now to Advent and then to Christmas and then to Epiphany. That’s the church calendar. Society turns from Halloween to Thanksgiving to Christmas to New Year’s Day, and to a New Year. This week at this Substack we turn again to some book discussions.

Beginning on Monday with a post about this Substack’s Book of the Year, and along with that book, other nominations for Books of the Year.

On Tuesday I open a new small book to discuss the significance in American history for “We hold these truths to be self-evident.” We turn to Walter Isaacson.

Wednesday we look at a major shift in the evangelical storytelling that began to be told in the mid-70s in a way that reshaped evangelicalism’s self-consciousness.
