A blessing for when hope feels foolish
Welcome to The Branch: Blessings and Benedictions! I’m delighted you’ve found your way here. If you’ve found your way over but are not yet subscribed, feel free to sign up here:
Blessed are you who continues, against all proof and evidence and past experience, to hope. Blessed are you who grabs hold of the tiniest threads as you dangle over the void.
Blessed are you who dares, who perseveres, who continues to hope despite everything. Despite everything you’ve seen. Despite everything you’ve had to do. Despite the heaviness in your heart and soul that asks why you bother. Despite the ever-present temptation to expect the worst, to plan for the grimmest situation, to assume the darkest timeline will come to pass.
Blessed are you who holds space in the dark for hope. Who lights a candle, one small flame in the darkness, as a protest. As a sign. As a witness that no matter how dark things may feel, one tiny flame can illuminate. Can clarify. Can make things peaceful once again.
Blessed are you who continues on. Who carries on in the dark, putting one tentative foot in front of the other. Blessed are you who holds onto the quiet but insistent thought that life shouldn’t be like this. That it doesn’t need to feel like this.
Blessed are you who hopes for a kinder world.
