A blessing for when you feel forgotten

On feeling overlooked and left behind

I see you, the one who feels left behind, overlooked, taken for granted.

I see you, the one who has been waiting patiently on the sidelines. Seeing others go first. Waiting to take your turn.

I see you, worried about what will come next, and hoping for just a little recognition right now. Not a lot. You’re not asking for too much. Just a little bit would go a long way.

Blessed are you who feel forgotten. Who feel that that you don’t matter any more. Or worry that maybe you never did.

Blessed are you who has held up others, and wonders— when do I get a moment of celebration?

Blessed are you who feel the pain and fear of being forgotten.

Blessed are you who suddenly explodes with words of grief, a shocking explosion from a quiet presence.

Blessed are you who know that sometimes there is no such thing as the right thing to say.

May you feel seen, in time. May you be held up by those who love you— and may they remember to tell you. May you feel seen and held and recognized and loved.
