Do Good
Acts 10:38 is a simple scripture that can change your life.
God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.
I want to really focus on four words here: went about doing good.
It’s so easy to fall into the never-ending race of trying to do it all and be it all.
Perfectionism is rampant in the world. Yes, true, Christ himself asks us to be “perfect”. But I’m telling you, from personal experience, that no one can be perfect in a day, a week, or even in years. Nor does Christ expect this.
We live in a fallen world and it can be very difficult to deal with shortcomings and disappointment, especially for those trying to be like Christ.
This is why I love Acts 10:38. It’s a breath of fresh air in a complicated world.
In a few words, the author of Acts synthesized the life of Christ into a phrase, an invitation if you will, that we can all understand. Christ “went about doing good”.
That’s it. That’s what we can do. That’s what we can be. We can do good. You know what goodness is. You have seen it. You have done it. We don’t need to do more, we don’t need to do less. Do good.
So here’s an invite. The next time you feel overwhelmed but your imperfection take a step back and ask simply how can I go about doing good today?
