Happy September, Indie Authors, Book Lovers, and Curious Creatives

May used to be my favorite month of the year, but after this scorching summer, I’m looking forward to September. I’m not surprised at all the happenings this month as the weather becomes more tolerable to be outside and enjoying nature. Locally, we have the James Dean Festival, Ducktail Run, and Jonesboro River Rally, which takes over our community the last weekend of September.

I’m taking advantage of the traffic and having a yard sale on Saturday, September 27th after I sort through my late mother’s belongings to give the family what they want and sell the rest to get her a headstone. Mother was my biggest fan. She showed up to all my events and supported my crazy ideas. I miss her so much!

Mom being a good sport getting her face painted by my artist-grandson at the bookstore I had at the Centrum Mall.

I’m considering opening another brick and mortar bookstore with a group of local authors. We are having our second planning meeting this month. I’ll keep you posted on our ultimate decision and progress! In the meantime, we will keep promoting indie authors’ books online and at local events.

Speaking of local events, the Marion Public Library is hosting a Local Author Book Fair. Saturday, November 15, 2025, 1-3:30 p.m. They have 15 spaces available. All authors are welcome to apply to attend this free community event, but priority will be given to authors from the Grant County, Indiana area.

Application Deadline: October 3, 2025
