Jupiter in Cancer: The promise of kinder, safer, simpler times
It definitely hasn’t been boring since Jupiter entered Gemini in July last year. Those of you with a lot of air and fire in their charts were probably thrilled to be given new opportunities to connect and to explore new avenues of accessing knowledge. Jupiter is about growth and you might feel like having grown two more arms and two more legs since then to be able to dance to the vacillating beat of constantly changing opinions and directions. You might have even developed a whole cluster of new brain cells along the way to manage the increasing influx of information.
However, with Jupiter traveling across the last degrees of Gemini now (and about to make a hard aspect to Saturn), our ability and willingness to adapt has reached a limit. Those of you with a lot of water or earth in your birth charts will have become weary of the mental over-stimulation of the past 12 months. The good news is that Jupiter will soon move on to the quieter waters of Cancer on June 10, potentially soothing our souls and providing us with some time to process what has happened during the hectic period of Jupiter in Gemini.
What’s more, the ‘lucky planet’ will leave Gemini, the sign of its detriment as traditional astrologers would say, to enter Cancer, the sign of its exaltation. I’m not a big fan of these traditional labels of “detriment” and “exaltation” as I think there are always great potentials and possible dangers whatever sign a planet is in. Nevertheless, there is a kernel of truth in the saying that Jupiter does not feel quite comfortable in the sign of the Twins, whereas Cancer offers a more suitable territory for the planet of confidence, trust and vision to flourish.
Let’s take a closer look to see why that is.
