Gather with other writers and dedicate an hour to submitting your writing to lit mags. After a brief check-in, we’ll will take a few minutes to share new resources and journals to make the submission process easier. From there you will get to work, and I (Andrea) will be available for questions. At the close we’ll see how the hour went and celebrate hitting SUBMIT.

Baffling Magazine → Deadline: Dec 15 | Fee: No | Pay: No | Open for Fiction | ☑︎ Sim Subs | ✖️ Reprints | R: 120 days | A: 10.07% | 1K+ followers | United States | 2020 — “Baffling Magazine is a quarterly online magazine of flash fiction. We love fantasy, science fiction & horror stories with a queer bent.”
Our one cent: I love lit mags with a killer logo and this one’s pretty damn on point (both in general and for the genres they primarily seek). Each issue has beautiful artwork and the writing can be read in a clean, attractive way (something that I feel goes under-appreciated but actually matters a heck lot).
Rust and Moth → Deadline: Dec 21 | Fee: No | Pay: No | Open for Poetry | ☑︎ Sim Subs | ✖️ Reprints | R: 42 days | A: 10.76% | 15K+ followers | United States | 2008 — “Lit journal, cellar door knocker”
Our one cent: Top-notch professional mag that I’ve seen special-mentioned in awards’ anthologies in past years. They were also the very first lit mag to publish my poetry ever! You can always find a wonderful mix of poets in their pages (both digital and print issues are beautiful!).
The Ampersand Review of Writing & Publishing → Deadline: Jan 11, 2026 | Fee: No | Pay: CA$50-CA$100/piece | Open for Fiction, Nonfiction, Poetry | ☑︎ Sim Subs | ✖️ Reprints | R: 86 days
